Soldiers of Downhill 2013

This by far was the best trip i have taken Thanks to Will Fogel and his Girlfriend Sidra Boyer. I first started the trip by taking a train to Jacksonville, FL from Orlando, FL. Where i met up with Will Fogel and his girlfriend. That where the road trip began to Ohio to race at the Soldiers of Downhill 2013. The first night we stopped at a rest stop in Newberry, South Carolina. I wasn't prepared for this trip. All i brought along was a mattress pad and some warm clothing. The first night i slept on top of a picnic table. It was a beautiful night calm and cool. I covered myself with the mattress pad while Will and Sidra posted up Hammocks to sleep in. I had such a good night sleep out in the open that all i remember was waking up to the sunrise and tree all around me. The next morning we hit the road again this time to North Carolina where Will knew a spot we can practice and have fun at. The place he took me at was one hell of a run. It had about 15 hairpins. Afterwards we hit up the river where we relaxed. After that day we continued on to Ohio. Will took the scenic way to Ohio which was the Blue Ridge Parkway. Along the way we saw plenty of beautiful mountains. It was a long road and it was also getting dark soon, so we had to find a place to camp which we did with in the Blue ridges mountains. We setup a fire and posted up. Due to the government shut down at the time we didn't have to worry about ranger telling us where we shouldn't camp. That was my first time camping on a mountain and it was pitch dark. I didn't have the guts to sleep out by the fire, so i slept in the car. The very next morning we packed up and heading to Ohio. Along the way Will hit up a run called little Switzerland. Then afterwards we hit the road again and made it to Ohio at night fall. We hit up the campsite for the riders and posted up. The rest of the story is on the video i posted below. After the race Will dropped me off at Dayton Airport where we parted. He still had a road trip to Michigan and i had a flight to take back home.

Waking up to this the first morning on my trip.

I love DH 2013 in Windham, New York

So once again i travel to New York to race at the I love DH event in Windham, New York. This time i traveled with Briana to show her around New York for the first time. We stayed at my father house in New Jersey where we had lots of fun and sight seeing. Then when the weekend came around we rented a car and headed north to Windham, New York where we stayed at a nice bed and breakfast called The Albergo Allegria 5 minutes away from the race course. We stayed there for two days while i was racing and Briana relaxing. Then afterwards we headed back to New York to enjoy our last day having fun and sight seeing before we headed back to Florida.

CaliFlorida Longboarda Cruza Palooza 2013

Ever since i did the Iron Pineapple Push racing in February, Push racing has caught my attention once again. I guess the fact that I'm getting older and want to stay fit is the reason why. Another reason why is because i notices the more i do it the better i get. I been lasting longer and pushing faster. It is still a working process. I need to work out at least 5 days a week and eat better if i want to push further. It is the reason why i been joining more push races this year. Longboarda Cruza Palooza 2013 was hosted by CaliFlorida. This race is getting bigger every year. This is a fun event especially if you have a family. Three races to choose from 12.5 miles for all-ages, 4.4 miles for all-ages, and 2.6 miles for 8 years old and under. Their was cash prizes and goodies for the winners. Their was also a lot of give away for everyone else and food for everyone. Did i mention that this race is located 2 minutes from the beach and is surrounded by restaurants and bars? it is pretty much a small paradise for longboarders who love to race, drink, and swim. Here are pictures from this year push race.

The Iron Pineapple 2013

The CaliFlorida Team (Juan Molina, Melanie Leilani Castro, Julian F. Rodriguez, and Brice Barrera) goes to The Iron Pineapple which is an 11 Mile and 3 Mile sprint skateboard push race along the Green River Parkway through both St Lucie and Martin County. Race was hosted by Brett Allen. I went to this race last year, but this year I'm in better shape than i was last year and i was pretty satisfied. This year the weather was the same as it was last year cold and windy. The 3 miles sprint was a good warm up, but when it came to the 11 mile i was ready. I kept a constant push and made it to the finish line in 53 minutes and 5 seconds. Hopefully next year i will do better and beat my own record. Here are some pictures and a video i made of the race.
